www.slough.gov.ukOur environment
Slough is a town with vitality - it bubbles with different cultures.
There is fine dining in independent restaurants and fast
food chains for people on the move. Enjoy traditional
English pub grub, food from India and the subcontinent,
Italian, Mediterranean and East Asian dining experiences.
We have a canal festival in September, a bonfire and fireworks
display in November and a Christmas lights ceremony.
We host specialist markets in the town centre and smaller
community events and carnivals take place throughout
the town.
And if you haven
’
t seen the night sky during Diwali
(the Festival of Lights) you are missing a fireworks display to
rival New Year.
Known as an urban area, Slough, nevertheless has 60 parks
and open spaces - three of which have gained the coveted
Green Flag award for several years in a row.
Herschel Park is the jewel in the centre of Slough - restored
to its Victorian glory in 2011 with the help of a Heritage
Lottery Grant and home to an array of events, walks and
talks, as well as Slough
’
s only formal nature reserve.
